Implementation of Tenet’s Compact with Uninsured Patients

All Tenet employees shall treat uninsured patients fairly and with respect during and after all treatment, and regardless of their ability to pay. At all times, activities shall be conducted with sensitivity to the patient’s health, privacy and dignity.

The following criteria must be met for individuals to receive Compact Rates:
- Uninsured patients regardless of income level
- Patient is receiving treatment at a Tenet Facility for Emergent Services
- The patient is not a Federal Healthcare program beneficiary 

- The Tenet Facility CFO shall propose the Compact Rates for the Facility each year.
- All Compact Rates proposed by the CFO require approval by the Regional Vice President of Finance.
- The Compact Rate set by the CFO shall not be higher than any applicable Managed Care Rate at a Tenet Facility.
- All Compact rates must be periodically reviewed and at a minimum on an annual basis.
- The Compact Rate will vary from Facility to Facility and from year to year.

- Compact Rates are subject to a reasonable payment plan.
- No interest shall be charged for payment plans established and agreed upon within one hundred and twenty (120) days of discharge.
- Payment plans agreed upon after the one hundred and twenty (120) day period shall not exceed the allowable interest rate applicable under state law, or 10% annually, whichever is lower.
- The Compact Rate will not include any outstanding professional fees, unless the Tenet Facility has an authorized contract to include the professional fees within the Compact Rate.
