Reporting of Overpayments to Federal Health Care Programs

- Conduct routine reconciliation processes to identify variances on payments
- Report and refund overpayments are based on the payer’s policies and procedures
- Complete and provide requested information on the Overpayment Refund Form
- Track overpayments by Tenet Facilities through Conifer or Other Patient Accounting Office
- Notify Tenet Facility’s Hospital Compliance Officer
- Determine underlying cause and implement remedial action for the overpayment within sixty (60) days after identification

- Immediately notify Facility Compliance Officer of any overpayments $100,000 or more
- The Facility Compliance Officer shall notify the Corporate Compliance Department so the overpayment(s) may be further investigated
- The Chief Compliance Officer will notify the payer if overpayment is related to an act or omission by Tenet, Conifer or the Tenet Facility
